More about Kevin

After graduating from UL-Lafayette with a Master of Architecture degree, I interned under Chad Abell & Eric Crozier of then Abell + Crozier Architects.  Though I was young, it was a small team, and they entrusted me with multiple projects ranging from a dialysis unit, to golf course cottages, to a one-of-a-kind private residence.  Once I finished my internship, my brother-in-law invited me onto the team at Manuel Builders (a local design-build residential contactor), where he & Greg Manuel wanted me to become their first in-house designer.  I sat for my licensing exams, became a licensed architect, and built a design team to meet the needs of the growing business for over 10 years.  When Greg opened a commercial design-build company, he asked me to move over to that side.  I gladly obliged and enjoyed a steep learning curve with each project offering new challenges in occupancy types, client requirements, building systems, and site parameters.  It was a joy working with the Manuel team over 16 years before venturing off on my own to start Threshold Architecture in January 2024.

I asked Greg Manuel to write a testimonial of what it was like working with me.  This is what he had to say:

“Having worked with Kevin for almost 17 years, there are some things that I can say with assurance.

1) He is a man of integrity. If Kevin tells you something, you can count on it

2) He is a man of God. His steps are always guided by the Truth

3) He has a gift of creativity that is unsurpassed. The design elements that I have seen come from his desk will remain unique and full of character long after others have faded…

4) He understands the need for work-life balance. Many don’t, and as a result end up destroying their families and the work life follows it down

5) He is a giver of life. His commitment to helping others and to family health and restoration to me is the greatest value and anointing that he brings. He does this through outreach, but more importantly, he does this in his daily habits as a husband, father, church leader and friend.

Promoting Kevin’s character, ability, integrity and work ethic will always show up as an easy task for me.”

Architecture + Relationships

There are several loves in my life.  Yes, I have a passion for design and architecture.  I truly believe the built environment affects the way we work, play, and rest.  A beautiful, harmonious space can greatly increase our ability to relate to others.  But God and family are at the center of my life.

My relationship with Jesus Christ roots and grounds me and my ability to pour into those around me.  My wife and I are lifelong friends and have 5 children with their own unique callings.

Together with my parents and my wife’s, we serve at a nonprofit ministry we founded called Camp Refuge where we get to see relationships with God and others restored, healed, and strengthened.  We call our retreat center in Breaux Bridge a safe haven – it truly is a space where we’ve witnessed the miraculous.  To find out more about the mission of Camp Refuge, click the link below.  Yes, architecture work pays the bills, but the greatest joys are with those for whom we do the work.
